Fashionable Freak Night - Posted by

Happy Halloween one and all.

Forget the tricks, I just want to show you some treats that you may want to feast your eyes on. Who says Halloween costumes need to be all about fake blood and nylon capes? If you want to be really stylish tonight but still have your ‘freak’ on look no further than this Falls catwalk collections. Orange and lace are two of the biggest trends out there.

Style School especially loves Roksanda Ilincic two orange creations, Alexander Mc Queen’s Goth get up and YSL’s Dracular style cape. It’s not to late to swoop into Browns this afternoon but leave your broom stick outside … www.brownsfashion.com

First we did it, and then X Factor did it. - Posted by

Here at Style School we were a little chuffed to see blonde contestant Kitty on X Factor wearing a high ponytail for one of her performances last saturday. The style was identical to one we had seen way back in July, when the very tallented Luke from SAKS art team created just the same look to go with one of the students shots at Style School complete with hair tape and all. So together with SAKS Hair academy, SS are one step ahead and most certainly have the X Factor when it comes to setting trends. Question is: Does it get the public’s vote? You decide!

Thumbs up for Emma - Posted by

Good Bye Harry Potter, Hello Oxford University. Life is not bad for Miss Emma Watson who has started her first semester at the Blue Stocking university this week. What we love about the new boffin look is,whilst clutching her books in hand, she can still look cool and this we guess is her natural style. Somehow we like it more than the film premiere glamour she has got going on most of the time. She sported distressed denim jeans, a check shirt, a classic parka and black belted biker boots, which no doubt students across the land will pick up on to emulate. If you want to get the look try French designer Maje for the Coat and Brora for the biker boots and check shirt. For the jeans try Ksubi or if you are buying on a budget Topshop is worth taking a look. Her overall style, one might say, is relaxed and understated. We too would give her a thumbs up.

Jonathon Pang - Posted by

Have a look at this fabulous video of Jonathan Pang who recently gave the most informative and hilarious lecture at Style School to date. He’s seen it all working with Super Models such as Naomi Campbell, Jodie Kidd and Christie Turlington. Jonathan is without a doubt one of the most regarded figures in the Fashion Industry and were honored to have him giving his valuable time to the Students at Style School.

LA times - Posted by

This is our first posting on what is hot and happening coming out of Hollywood right now. To be a good fashion stylist you have to know all about the media world around us and not just what is going down the catwalk. Trends come from film, tv, celebrities, books, cultures, countries and many more influences. Fashion is a fraction that you equal by measure.

Britt Marling. I went to the screening of her new movie Another Earth (out on 2 December) and she is one to watch. Not only is she beautiful in a red carpet kind of way but she has talent with such intensity on screen. She not only stars but wrote and produced the film. My little eye predicts that she will be the biggest brightest star.  Have a look at the trailer for Another Earth http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N8hEwMMDtFY

Next up is actor, Mr Ryan Gosling. The once Indie/Art House devotee has gone comercial on us making over ten films that are all in post production this year! Not that SS are complaining, we cannot get enough of Ryan. He seems to be in every magazine we flick through and is currently staring in 3 big films that are out in the UK at the moment. This man is a style Icon… the way he wears a suit in Crazy, Stupid Love to the driving gloves in Drive…he has what it takes to bring fashion to the forefront. He beckons Ad Campaigns and major brands promotion – move over Beckham and Brad… let Ryan take the driving seat.

STYLE SCHOOL SUMMER WORK - Posted by

Have a look at some of the amazing shoots that took place over the Summer at Style School. The first up is 60′s inspired. As always the creative team consisted of SS graduates, Premier models, SAKS Art Team ( http://www.saks.co.uk/professional-training/art-team/), Jemma Kidd Make Up School graduates ( http://www.jemmakidd.com/ ) and the talented photographer Tiffany Mumford (http://www.tiffanymumford.com/blog). As the Director of the course and as a Stylist that has been working in the Industry for over 15 years I am always bowled over as to how good my students finished work is. They show true dedication and learn so much over the week that prevails before the shoot. I really am so blessed to have such special students coming through the doors at Style School and feel honoured to teach them.

And then there was Vintage… all the clothes were from http://www.pretaportobello.com/
