Alex Longmore Meets Victoria Beckham - Posted by Alex

Here at Style School we are loving the sister line, Victoria By Victoria Beckham.  As SS Founder and a Celebrity stylist I was invited to meet Victoria at an intimate drinks to celebrate the launch her new range exclusively at Harvey Nichols last week. It was exciting to meet her and to hear all about her plans for the new range. The new lines dresses are fun, unique and playful. Really wearable and quite VB.

Victoria herself is charming, down to earth with a total dedication to her work and designs. She has taken the fashion world by storm and is clearly focused on making her brand big business within the Industry. You just have to read her exclusive interview in this month Madame Figaro to know that she means business – she was quoted as ‘wishing she could see the world through the eyes of Muccia Prada’  a pretty serious statement and one that shows determination to succeed in a highly competitive game.

The photographs that accompany the interview are amazing. Victoria looks stunning modelling Prada, Alexander Wang and her own label. After being slated by the British Press last week for looking tired it must be she, that is having the last laugh now.

Brilliance at Burberry - Posted by Alex

And the finale with umbrellas, fake rain (must be a first!) beating down

LFW’s Burberry’s Autumn Winter show this afternoon did not disappoint, it was held in a newly appointed glass structure in Hyde Park with only the trees overhead as our view.  From where I was sitting ( 2nd row, thanks very much Burberry!)  I could see every Fashion Editor from around the globe with the Grande Dame herself, Anna Wintour sitting next to Hamish Bowles on the front row.   Once the music started we were all whisked away to a woodlandfantasy. Country casual was the order of the day, with deep plum, bottle green and mustard colours shown in deep velvets, cords and cashmere. Cut off Parka jackets (Alexa Chung loving these front row) frilly skirt, embellished sheepskin and long puffa jackets ( Christopher Baileys staples) were strutted out, but what stole the show was the fox and owl motifs embellished on everything from handbags, t shirts, jumpers to jackets. I loved the belts with the gold foxes heads. The finale of the show saw rain beating down on the glass house we were sitting in and all the models sauntering down the runway with umbrellas – trully origional and such a visual feast.  British fashion at its best and as any wise owl would know Burberry still rules supreme.

Jena Theo showcased their stunning AW12 collection this evening at Somerset House, making it the perfect end to the first day of LFW. Models wore mostly black and grey, with plenty of dark wash denim, floaty white silk and heavy duty fringe dresses.

Feel Good Friday…With David Beckham Of Course! - Posted by Alex

David Beckham for H&M is the pretty much the talking point of women across the world right now, and his huge billboard campaigns are quite literally stopping traffic. David designed the underwear himself, following in the footsteps of his fashionista wife, Victoria. Watch the behind-the-scene video from his photo shoot here. Below is a cheeky photo David posted to his fans on Facebook yesterday!

Balmy about Balmain - Posted by Alex

Look at these cool designs for Spring Summer 2012 from French Design house Balmain. They still have the rock chic edge to them which the label is famous for but with a softer edge. We are especially loving the denim long skirt and the gold sequined jacket. We can so see Kate Moss wearing these looks and we look forward to seeing it in the pages of Grazia. Available to buy from Net a Porter and Matches, start saving because these looks dont come cheap.

Hair today.. gone tomorrow… - Posted by Alex

Pink hair is set to be a huge trend this Spring/Summer 2012. Forget designer handbags, its the only accessory to be seen with this forthcoming season. Lily Allen was the original trend setter supporting this look way back in 2008.  Since then the likes of Katy Perry, Sienna Miller, Fearne Cotton and Charlotte Free have been seen with bubble gum coloured locks.  Designers across the globes sent their models came down the catwalk with pink barnets at the SS12 shows, they were seen at the Thakoon, Mulberry and Narciso Rodriguez Shows. If you think this look might be a bit too radical then you can always try clip in extensions from Claires Accessories to keep up to speed…. failing that a wig will do!

Versace breaking news… - Posted by Alex

A Style School exclusive…

Versace are proud to announce their new clothing range for 0-12 year olds. These exclusive pictures show a very famous super models daughter modelling the new collection… Can you guess who it may be? Her mother was famed for a mole above her lip, stepping out with a Hollywood A Lister, she made Flex a household shampoo back in the 90′s and was one of the original super models. Yes! Its Cindy Crawford’s daughter Kaia Gerber.  Cindy used to be the face of Versace back in her day so its great to see her daughter following in her mothers foot steps. Cindy says ‘ There is something very special about the house of Versace. Being on set watching her in front of the camera was a fantastic experience and I am so proud of her’….. talk about ‘like mother, like daughter!’

And the winner is… - Posted by Alex

Meryl Streep might have won Best Actress and Clooney awarded for Best Actor along with a worthy list of other Hollywood greats, at last night’s 2012 Golden Globe Award Ceremony in Los Angeles. However, Here at Style School we believe that along with the long list of nominees for film and TV should come some Style Awards as lets face it , who wears what on the red carpet is all we really care about… So, without further a do… it is our honour to announce this years fashionable winner’s in no particular order:

Best CoupleBrad and Angelina wearing Versace. She stole the show and should banish her black wardrobe from now on in. She works colour so well and her make up so utterly slick, the stuff that Hollywood legends are made of.  Were liking Brad in the three piece too, taking style tips of Ari Gold, the best Character in hit US Series Entourage – we like it.

And just so you can see the gown full length…

For Keeping it RealMichelle Williams, understated in Jason Wu and rumour has it, she keeps her hair short as that is the way Heath Ledger ( her former boyfriend who tragically died a few years back in 2008) liked it. Michelle speech after winning Best Actress for My Week WithMaryln was honest, to the point and really heartfelt. Could this be Hollywood’s ‘true and real’ star.

For True Hollywood Glamour - Charlize Theron in this stunning pale pink dress by Dior. She looks everything like a screen goddess should do and more. Our favourite accessory is the diamond head band. Charlize does red carpet so well by looking elegant (in long) and sexy (in short)  at the same time.

Best Colour – We love Natalie Portman in Style School’s official pink. She looks oh so pretty wearing Lanvin and what a great colour to get noticed in. We love the clashing red and fushia, its got the same look about it as Angelina’s dress… Oh dear, it may be a case of sack the stylist in Hollywood this morning as ego’s clash after the main event but here in London, we are seing a bright future for clashing red worn with just about anything.

Look a Likey – Flying the British Flag, Kate Beckinsale wearing this Roberto Cavalli number looked elegant and streamline. Top marks for doing the red carpet so well but couldn’t we be mistaken that this is actually Victoria Beckham in disguise – that figure – those curves!
